Packing & Tackle Suggestions
Here is what we recommend that you bring on your trip: Total weight of your luggage should not exceed 50 to 60 lbs. Airlines in Canada usually require fishing tackle to be checked in as stored luggage. Asterisks (*) denote Lodge favorites of which are available in the Wolf Bay Lodge’s tackle shop. Also, you can view an Adobe Acrobat version of this list, that is easier to print.
Clothing:
- Good quality rain suit
- Warm waterproof boots with rubber bottoms

- Wool shirt & socks
- Good quality / insulated underwear
- Turtle neck or chamois shirts
- Poplin or cotton pants
- Winter or warm jacket (early June and August trips)
- Casual clothing (for on shore and travel)
- Warm gloves (wool or neoprene)

The following lures have proven effective for fishing in northern Canada. Feel free to experiment. Do not feel obligated to bring all or some of the lures listed. Please keep in mind Phelps Lake policy is Catch & Release and all lures must be barbless.
